  • My Christmas 2007

My Christmas break started out a little unexpected.....

It was three days before Christmas and our first day off work when I opened my car door and reached for a shopping bag. I painfully tore a tendon in my left lower leg. The good news was that it was not my Achilles tendon (instead the plantaris tendon) and it did not require surgery. I was told to stay off my leg and rest. As it turned out, 2 days of bed rest managed to help me reflect and relax.

We had about 30 people from my side of the family for Christmas Eve. Everyone brought a dish and despite my injury, we managed to have Ham, Turkey, Potatoes, Lasagna, Prime Rib and All of the Fixings. A BIG SHOUT OUT of thanks to my Mom for doing most of the work.

On Christmas Day, the kids woke us up at 8:15am with the delight that Santa made it down the chimney. At our house Santa brings one gift for each child. Our oldest daughter received Bose speakers for her I-Pod, our middle daughter received a 6 foot stuff Caterpillar (perfect for watching TV) and our youngest received Hanna Montana concert tickets. They were all obviously very good this year!

My husband surprised me with Celine Dion tickets (she is coming to Cleveland in September) and I surprised him with a Joshua Cribbs (awesome Cleveland Browns Football Player) Football Jersey. We spent the afternoon serving food at Church to the less fortunate. I spent the evening playing with my Kindle. I bought and downloaded three new books....after I read them...I will let you know if they are worth reading! They are:

    1. Big Book of Small Business - You Don't Have to Run Your Business By the Seat of Your Pants
    2. What Customers Want - Using Outcome Driven Innovation to Create Breakthrough Products and Services
    3. In Search of Excellence - Lessons from America's Best-Run Companies
We rounded out the holiday break hosting my husbands family for Christmas on the 26th. There was about 20 and this year was fun because we decided to skip a formal meal and instead have heavy appetizers. We dusted off the poker chips and played Texas Hold em. The kids played games and before we knew it....evening was here.

We were back to work on the 27th and completed inventory on the 28th. It was amazing the stuff we found, the stuff we thought we had...but didn't. I think we will start doing a mid-year inventory in July. The staff did a great job cleaning, organizing and counting.

The warehouse staff worked on Saturday the 29th getting holiday orders packed and ready for our UPS pick up on 1/2/2008.

It is hard to believe that 2008 is around the corner! I hope the holidays provided you with time to relax, reflect and spend time with loved ones.

I got tickets to see Celine Dion in Cleveland in Sept. also. My wonderful daughter gave them to me for Christmas. I have wanted to see her in Vegas the last couple times but just could not justify the cost. Maybe I'll see ya there.
    Happy New Year

Only 1 gift per person from Santa? LOL Santa is a big gift giver in our house. My husband believes that a big pile of gifts is the family tradition! Yes we spoil our kids a bit but it is a great once a year tradition and lots of smaller gifts with one or 2 bigger ones is how Santa does it for us. My husband and I don't exchange most of the time in order to make sure the kids get "most" of what they want. Happy holidays to all! Lori - Beans and Bears
