It is with absolute delight that I am making this post today. It should put to rest many customer concerns. For those that believe in Christmas….it is a very nice gift!
Virgil Miller has been one of our Washington contracts regarding the FDA Globalization Act of 2008. He was the staff member assigned to writing, drafting and revising the language in the bill. He has been a valuable contact for me in terms of providing background, focus and time lines for this discussion draft. He is the person that confirmed Congressman Dingell (Chairman of the Energy and Commerce Committee) wanted the FDA Globalization Act of 2008 fast tracked and made into a formal bill in January 2009.
I spoke with Virgil yesterday and was given this update:
- He thanked me for the cooperation and insight provided by Wholesale Supplies Plus and her customers.
- He confirmed that at the start of the next congressional session, Congressman Waxman will be replacing Congressman Dingell and taking over as Chairman of the Energy and Commerce Committee.
- He confirmed that Congressman Waxman will set the priorities for Energy and Commerce Committee. Those priorities will be announced in late January or early February 2009.
- He confirmed that there will be no further work on the FDA Globalization Act of 2008.
- He informed me that he will be leaving the office at the end of the month.
I noted today that the government website for informing the public about the FDA Globalization Act of 2008 has been removed.
There is some talk that Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky (D-ILL) will try to introduce new cosmetic legislation in 2009. Here is an article referencing her intentions going back as far as Sept. 2008.
All in all, this is very good news for our industry. The FDA Globalization Act of 2008 has been significantly stalled….if not killed all together.
Together, lets give a big cheer and get back to growing our businesses!

Excellent update! Now onto the next battle with Schakowski! As you know, in a phone call with one of her staffers just this morning, I was told that a new draft is planned for 2009 so it's not just talk unfortunately. But with us joining together, we can make sure our voices are heard. Thanks for sharing this information. So excited to be working with you on this!
Debbie,
Thanks for sharing this information - it's a great thing that the collective force of our groups and industry can make an impact. If nothing else, I guess they've realized that there were more ramifications to the FDA Globalization Act than they took into account in the beginning.

Debbie,
Thank you for the update. In my estimation, even though it seems the battle has not yet been won, a dent has been made by all of the excellent efforts put forth. A dent means more than the surface has been scratched, and that, in itself, can grow into much more.

Thanks so much for all of your hard work in this effort, and in getting this info out! This has been a great concern of mine.
Thank you,
Debbie,
Thanks for the post and your involvement. This is great news!
Thanks for sharing this information and keeping us updated. I'm staying positive and keeping my energy focused on growing my business and I can do this knowing such great people such as yourself and Donna Maria and others are at our side.

Thanks Debbie for keeping us posted. Knowing that this has been stalled does make me breathe a bit easier. As we all know in business it takes a while before you are recognized and my recognition is just beginning with great results. I will be sure to stay posted and check all your updates as usual.
Happy Holiday Season. Best Wishes and Continued Success!

YEAH!!!! Thanks to all of you who worked tirelessly for all of us!!!
thanks so much for the update and all your hard work on this!
Bless your heart for all your hard work and for keeping us informed! I, for one, appreciate it so very much. I have been worried sick about this. If it did pass, it would only be the beginning of further regulations that we could not possibly keep up with (or afford) as small, home-based businesses. The psychic I spoke to in Sedona did say, however, that it's not a matter of "if" - only a matter of "when". She suggested that we involve an organization like N.O.W. (National Organization for Women) in this going forward. This has been on my 'to-do' list so I'll get on it right away. I don't trust the government, sorry. It's on the Corporate payroll. The real government in this country is BIG BUSINESS, bottom line.
Yes, great news indeed! Thanks to all who was involved in fighting this proposed legislation.
Wow, I guess I always wanted to believe we the people could make a difference, but lately have been dismayed by that belief....I guess I was correct after all!!
Thanks to you and your staff for ALL of your hard work, keeping us informed, and letting us have our say!! Congrats to all!
Thank you for the good news and thank you for all your hard work on our behalf.
